The 24-Hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development Programme Secretariat has extended the deadline for prospective tenants to submit Expressions of Interest (EOI) for the Legon Pharmaceutical Innovation Park (LePIP) to 31 October 2026.

The extension gives eligible pharmaceutical manufacturers and other prospective businesses additional time to apply to establish operations within the planned industrial park.

LePIP is a flagship project under the 24-Hour Economy Programme, designed to expand local pharmaceutical production, attract investment, create jobs and strengthen Ghana’s position in the regional pharmaceutical industry.

The park, a 2,000-acre pharmaceutical and life sciences ecosystem, beginning with a 40-hectare pilot manufacturing platform at the Osudoku/Ningo Prampram enclave in the Greater Accra Region.

Its planned facilities and services include pharmaceutical manufacturing infrastructure, quality control and testing laboratories, reliable power and water, warehousing, cold-chain facilities, regulatory support and logistics services.

LePIP is projected to create more than 3,000 direct jobs during its first phase, with an estimated 30,000 additional jobs expected in subsequent phases. Additional indirect employment opportunities are anticipated across manufacturing, packaging, logistics, engineering, research and related services.

The project also includes plans for a Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Centre of Excellence in partnership with the University of Ghana. The Centre is expected to develop industry-ready professionals, with a target of supplying more than 1,000 skilled workers to the pharmaceutical industry within its first five years.

Ghana’s pharmaceutical market is estimated at more than US$700 million and is projected to exceed US$1 billion by 2030. With approximately 70 per cent of its pharmaceutical requirements currently imported, increased domestic production presents opportunities for import substitution and export growth.
